This online interactive workshop takes you on a journey, from learning about the media landscape and broadcast set-ups, through to techniques on how to handle the media, and deciding what you say and how you want to come across in media interviews.
You will gain valuable insights into ways to communicate with the media, with what are often sensitive areas of research. The outcome from this session is for participants to have developed the confidence and inspiration to actively explore more rewarding media opportunities.

Hosted by two media communication experts: Nadine Dereza, an international broadcaster and award winning journalist; and Ross Edmonds, Communications Director at Babaco Media, specialists in preparing clients for media interviews and crisis planning.
The media play a vital role in getting the word out so that people have accurate information. By proactively engaging with journalists, experimental biologists can contribute to the narrative, nurturing better coverage whilst combating misinformation and disinformation.
This media skills workshop will be held twice on Tuesday 13 May 2025 to cover different time zones. You will be able to choose your preferred option during the booking stage.
Be aware! This workshop will be delivered via Zoom and requires the camera to be on during all the session.
