A special Pride Month event to celebrate the winners of the PRISM Exeter’s Queer Science Competition

The PRISM Exeter has announced the winners of the "Queer Science Competition", which was funded by the SEB Diversity Grant. The goal of the competition was to discover lesser-known LGBTQIA+ STEMM scientists and tell their stories. The participants also had to state the reasons of their choice.

To celebrate and award the winners, they invite you to a special Pride Month event.

What to expect from the event?

The winners will present the scientists they nominated and Sarah Cosgriff, the guest speaker, will talk about her experiences of being LGBTQ+ in STEMM and her work in assisting educators to highlight LGBT+ people in school lessons.

Winner:

Niamh Taylor, from Isca Academy, with the nomination of the entomologist Dr Bryan Lessard.

Runners up:

Charlie Berry, from University of Exeter, with the nomination of the mathematician, physicist, and philosopher Gilles Châtalet.

Molly-Jo McAlpine, Exeter College, with the nomination of the statistician, social reformer, and founder of modern nursing Florence Nightingale.

When?

Where?

Peter Chalk Centre at the University of Exeter.
